SELF PORTRAIT/SELFIE TASK -

My reference for this self portrait is an artist named ‘Manu Pillali’. Who had the opportunity to work on Skeptas album ‘ignorance is bliss’ album, possibly being one of my favourite ever album covers.

Each Individual shot was taken using a thermal imaging camera. Each expression in the collage is to depict ignorance. I thought this style of image would be great for me to get experimental rather than just shooting a simple self portrait. Plus I wanted to challenge myself as I don’t have much experience with photoshop so had to watch a few videos to get the hang of what I needed to do to create this image.
In my opinion a selfie, is something with not much time and effort gone into its final product. It is mostly an image most of us capture in a moment to keep hold of a memory. Whereas a self portrait, has intention, planning, and a though process behind what needs to be achieved for this image. A self portrait is an individual capturing an image of themselves by themselves. A selfie is also usually taken at arms length, in correlation to a self portrait being set up possibly with a timer etc.
